Discover Nerja´s beautiful coastline, Málaga
Today Academia CILE wants to give you a nice weekend tip. Very close to Málaga you have the possibility to do watersport. You can rent a stand up paddle or a kayak and go snorkeling in cristal clear water and caves around the coastline from playa Burriana to Playa Maro, Nerja.
The coastline from Norja to La Herradura, next to Nerja includes some of the most beautiful beaches of Andalusia. Furthermore, it includes the Natural Park Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo. You can paddle into caves, make cliff jumps or discover the underwater world. On a calm sea day with sun we definetly can recommend you this place for a daytrip.
When you arrive at Playa Burriana you can find rental stations for kayaks and stand up paddles. If you wish you can make guided tours that you can also book in advance. The rental stations are at the end of the beach. For divers Playa Burriana is also a nice destination. It is possible to go for diving excursions or to take first diving lessons.
Kayaking
The best option to reach this area is to rent a car. The distance by car is 45 minutes, around 60 km. Along the beachline “Paseo Maritímo Antonio Mercero” you have the possibility to park your car.
The Paseo Maritimo is called paseo “Paseo Maritimo Antonio Mercero” because of Antonio Mercero. In 1980 Antonio Mercero established the famous serie “Verano Azul” which takes place in Nerja. It is a very Spanish serie of a typical Spanish family on summer vacations in Nerja.

Playa Burriana is a modern zone with a town and a long Paseo Maritimo. The beach is 800 meters long and 40 meters wide. At the beach you find everything you need. Next to the rental stations of the watersport equipement it offers hammacks, areas and games for kids, nets for beach volley ball, showers etc. Along the Paseo Maritimo you find many bars, restaurants (chiringuitos), shops and supemarkets. If you want to have a look behind the caves of the coastline you can visit the “Cuevas de Nerja”, very close to the beach.
The city Málaga offers you an excellent opportunity to learn Spanish in a sunny place full of culture in combination with many watersport opportunities due to its location at the Mediterranean Sea.
